And we're rolling...

This feels a bit like stepping off a precipice—or maybe, more on brand, like launching a solo move halfway up a brutal mountain stage. No guarantees, just a gut feeling, a solid foundation, and a deep belief in what's possible if we go all-in together.

If you've been around for any stretch of time in the world of cycling esports, you've probably seen the steady evolution of what we've built together. From the early days of community-organized races and scrappy broadcasts to what now feels like a thriving, global movement. We've come a long way.

Leadout is the next step in that journey.

It's a new name, but it's built on the same heart. After years of working with so many of you through Zwift Community Live, it was clear we needed something more structured—something purpose-built to support the next phase of virtual racing. That's what Leadout is.

We're here to bring people together, give events the love and visibility they deserve, and create tools and content that help athletes, teams, organizers, and fans feel more connected. Whether it's through broadcasts, data services, or behind-the-scenes tech—Leadout is all about strengthening this ecosystem and making sure our community continues to thrive by enabling the leaders of tomorrow.

The indoor season may be winding down, but for us, this is just the beginning. Like an athlete stepping into the early efforts of a long year, we're building momentum—sharpening, refining, and showing up ready to race. Peak form is marked on the calendar—now it's time to put some results on the board.

You'll start to see Leadout in action: elevated production, tighter storytelling, deeper data, and a growing presence across the community. We're here to compete—and it's only going to get better as we ride into full form.

Let's light it up!

Looking Back, Moving Forward

Back when we first started streaming Zwift races, there wasn't much of a playbook. A few people passionate about racing, a few webcams and overlays, and a whole lot of trial and error. But even then, it was clear: this community cared. And that spark grew.

Together, we helped bring structure and visibility to racing. From grassroots series to the first pro-level formats, Zwift Community Live became a hub for a growing scene—not because of me, but because so many of you showed up, raced, volunteered, watched, and supported it week in and week out.

Leadout is built on that same community-first energy, with a bit more horsepower to do the job right.

And as we look ahead, we also want to start taking time to look back—to tell the story of how we got here. Every edition of this newsletter will feature a moment from the early days of virtual racing—not just to celebrate milestones, but to highlight the spirit of collaboration, creativity, and commitment that's always defined this space.

This month's throwback: Zwift on Board (2016)

Before Zwift Community Live had a name, before we had full production tools—we were experimenting. And Zwift on Board was a big leap forward: the first time we built-in rider camera feeds directly into the production backend (not just pasted into OBS!), thanks to a partnership with the creators of ZwiftPower.

It's rough around the edges, but packed with heart. You'll probably spot a few OG racers still around today (yes, #sconepower included). It's the kind of scrappy innovation that laid the groundwork for everything we're doing now with Leadout.
