2027 USA Cycling Esports National Series
Overview
The road to the USA Cycling Esports National Championships starts here. The 2027 USA Cycling Esports National Series brings riders together for four rounds of competitive scratch racing on TrainingPeaks Virtual. Every finish counts toward the season-long standings, and every round is a chance to prove yourself against racers in your ability category.
Race for the Series title in your category and compete in at least two rounds to earn your place at the one-day USA Cycling Esports National Championships on February 6.
Format
Four scratch races. One finishing order per race, with points awarded by finishing position within each category. Points accumulate over all four rounds, and the highest overall points total wins the 2027 National Series title for that category. Series winners are recognized separately from the one-day National Champions.
Each round uses a different built-in TrainingPeaks Virtual course, progressing from fast, tactical racing to more demanding terrain.
Categories
- Men and Women Elite: FTP above 4.2 W/kg
- Men and Women Category B: FTP above 3.3 through 4.2 W/kg
- Men and Women Category C: FTP up to and including 3.3 W/kg
- Paracycling Men and Women; specific competition classes will appear in the race guide.
These are fitness/ability-based Series categories. The National Championships use separate Elite, Junior, Masters age-group and Paracycling divisions.
Eligibility
A current annual USA Cycling race license is required for every participant. Riders must compete in at least two of the four National Series races to be eligible for the 2027 USA Cycling Esports National Championships.
Overall Course Selection
A national series should reward more than one kind of rider. Across four rounds on TrainingPeaks Virtual, the USA Cycling Esports National Series moves from fast coastal racing to longer climbing efforts, a punchy tactical circuit, and a final classics-style test. Each race presents a different way to win—and a different way to lose time, position, or points.
The order is intentional. The opener puts positioning, drafting and finishing speed under pressure. Round 2 tests whether riders can make or survive selections on longer climbs. Round 3 rewards quick decisions and repeated accelerations, while Round 4 asks competitors to turn a hard climbing effort into a winning race result. The National Championship then brings all of those skills together over a longer, more demanding course. The strongest rider over a single terrain type may win a round; the series is designed to reward a complete racer package.
