Mid Loops West may be shorter, but it is no recovery day. The course winds from the Forest Velodrome toward the coast before the North Lake rollers demand repeated accelerations and careful use of the draft. Two high-road/low-road split sections add tactical uncertainty, and the return over Velodrome Hill sets up a fast, demanding run to the line inside the velodrome.
Placed in the middle of the series, this round changes the question from who can produce sustained power to who can race smart when there is little time to recover from a mistake. Punchy riders have opportunities to disrupt the bunch, but the final uphill approach and track finish also reward riders who keep something in reserve. Positioning, timing, and knowing when to follow—or launch—could be worth as much as raw power.
